Highly recommended as a good day's
expedition. Around 1.5 hours to the Ecolorado rafting centre, just South of
Lourdes. Better rafting if you can take the slightly longer route (of two)
and choose an afternoon - when the sun is up and the water is slightly
warmer. Experienced and friendly instructors - but still expect to get
very wet and even fall in - it's all part of the fun. As are the water
fights with other rafts. Spare clothes are therefore essential - as is the

Laressingle
is a totally fortified village dating from the 8th Century surrounded by
defensive walls and a deep moat (now dry). Small museum within the walls,
along with a delightfully small pancake restaurant - the tables of which can
be seen in the picture. Just outside the fortifications are a small shop
selling armagnac from different local producers. Also an exhibition of
'fighting machines of the middle ages' with working full-scale versions of
siege catapaults etc.
